We are sad to inform Spitfire Society members that Mrs Katie Colquhoun, widow of our past Chairman Leslie Colquhoun DFC, GM, DFM, passed away at her home in Broadstairs, Kent, in July after a short illness.
They were married in June 1945 and the couple had four daughters.
Les, you may recall was also Chairman of our old and successful Southern Region for some years before adding the National Chairmanship to his workload.
This entailed a considerable amount of work from their home in Broadstairs and Katie would always enthusiastically deputise for Les if he was 'out' and taker any messages for him.
But then, she had in earlier years been a Parish Councillor at Chilbolton in Hampshire when the couple made their home in the village.
She had a lively and cheerful sense of humour and her company, when she joined her husband for Society events, was always welcomed.
She will be much missed by all of the long term members of this Society and we offer our sincere sympathies and condolences to their daughters Helen, Jane, Peta, Sally and their families.
